Sheffield’s industrial history is narrated by a series of excellent museums. In chronological order, the Doncaster Street Cementation Furnace, the Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, Shepherd Wheel, Kelham Island Museum and Magna in the borough of Rotherham show how and where iron and steel were made and crafted into products for world-wide sale. There is another as yet undeveloped historic industrial location, perhaps the most valuable of all, at Darnall Works, by the Sheffield Canal on Worksop Road.
