Description
Based in the elegant surroundings of Wortley Hall conference centre, this tour included country houses with intriguing stories to tell – the family rivalries of the Wentworth Woodhouse and Wentworth Castle estates, the eccentricities and literary fame of the Sitwells of Renishaw Hall and the time-warp quality of Brodsworth Hall as well as less well-known houses, Aston Hall, Cannon Hall and Cusworth Hall.
The itinerary also provided the opportunity to explore the fascinating monuments around the village of Wentworth – Hoober Stand, Keppel’s Column, the Rockingham Mausoleum and the Needle’s Eye.
